Itinerary

Day 1 Marrakech - Ait Benhaddou - Kalaat M'gouna- Dades Valley

 • Marrakech

Your adventure begins in Marrakech, where we’ll pick you up directly from your accommodation. From there, we set off toward the stunning Dades Valley, crossing the dramatic Tizi n’Tichka Pass in the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, soak in breathtaking panoramic views, discover traditional Berber villages, and witness the landscape shift from lush valleys to arid desert terrain — a truly unforgettable start to your Morocco desert journey.

 • Ouarzazate & Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou

On the way, we’ll take a scenic detour to Ouarzazate, often called the “Gateway to the Sahara.” Here, you’ll visit the iconic Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a breathtaking earthen fortress and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Film enthusiasts will recognize it from major productions like GladiatorGame of Thrones, and The Mummy — it’s one of the most photogenic and historically rich sites in southern Morocco.

 • Dades Gorges

After lunch at a scenic kasbah, we’ll continue along the famous “Route of a Thousand Kasbahs”, offering countless photo opportunities of dramatic landscapes and traditional Berber life. Our journey takes us through Kalaat M'Gouna, known as the Valley of Roses, especially vibrant during the spring bloom.

We then arrive in the stunning Dades Valley, where you’ll marvel at the unique rock formations known as the “Monkey Fingers”. End the day with dinner and a peaceful overnight stay in a charming traditional riad nestled in the gorge

Day 2 From Dades Gorges to Merzouga – Todgha Gorge & Camel Trek in the Sahara

After breakfast in the Dades Valley, we’ll travel toward Tinghir and the scenic Todgha Valley, passing through traditional Berber villages built from stone and clay, perched above lush oases — perfect for breathtaking photo stops.

Todra Gorge Exploration
Upon arrival at the impressive Todra Gorge, we’ll take a walk along the base of its towering 300-meter red cliffs, a favorite among rock climbing enthusiasts from around the world. The dramatic scenery and cool air make this a refreshing stop on our journey.

Journey to Merzouga & Sahara Camel Ride
Continuing toward Erfoud, we’ll pause at key viewpoints and fossil workshops where locals extract ancient marine fossils — a glimpse into Morocco’s geological past.
By afternoon, we reach the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes of Merzouga. There, your camel trek begins, guided by a local nomad, leading you through golden dunes as the sun sets over the Sahara.

The day ends with a magical night at a desert camp, complete with a traditional dinnerdrumming around the campfire, and stargazing under the vast Saharan sky.

Day 3 Merzouga - Draa Valley - Ouarzazate

Merzouga – Sunrise Over the Dunes
Wake up early to witness a truly unforgettable Sahara sunrise — a magical moment as the first light paints the dunes in golden hues. After enjoying breakfast at the desert camp, we leave the sands of Merzouga behind.

Rissani – The Cradle of the Alaouite Dynasty
Our next stop is Rissani, once the powerful city of Sijilmassa, a vital trading post on the ancient trans-Saharan caravan routes. Known for its strong traditions, here you’ll see local men in djellabas and women in veils, giving you a deep cultural insight into southern Moroccan life.

Draa Valley & Ouarzazate via Tamnougalt & Agdz
The journey continues through Alnif and Tazzarine, stopping at the historic Kasbah of Tamnougalt and the oasis village of Agdz. We then follow the lush Draa Valley, lined with ancient Berber kasbahs and palm groves, offering stunning desert-oasis landscapes.
By evening, we arrive in Ouarzazate, where you’ll spend the night in a charming riad, reflecting on your journey through Morocco’s rich history and natural wonders.

Incredible Experience

What an incredible experience - an absolute must when visiting Morocco! You must visit the Sahara, and you must use this company :)We did a 3 day private version of this tour with myself, my wife and another couple. We had Jamal as our driver, who became our best friend by the end of the trip. Not only was he a very professional and safe driver, he really had our best interest at heart, protecting us from the pressure to buy from/get "ripped off" by street venders and helping experience as much as we possibly could on our way to the desert and back. We were genuinely sad leaving Jamal at the end of our journey. We hope to see Jamal and use this company again for more tours in the future!

Fantastic Trip

I am a little late in posting a review. We returned from this trip in early March, right when everything started to close down due to Covid-19. I can tell you that the memories of this trip have kept me going while sheltering in place. If you are thinking this might be the trip for you, please know that it is very fast paced with moving from place to place almost every night was quite challenging. The cycling itself was challenging based on ones fitness level. My husband completed every kilometer, while I did about three-quarters of the cycling. A lot of it depends on the heat, but for a female in my early 50s, I found it very doable. We had the most fabulous guide and crew. I cannot say enough of about our guide Son - he was absolutely amazing - taking care of all the details while we enjoyed ourselves. There are plenty of water/snack stops with fresh fruit and amazing snacks (ginger/nuts/cookies). They take very good care of you.
